I was reading a book the other day that raised an interesting question. The story is about Death, and in the story Death only comes to people who don't want to live. One man decides he doesn't want to die, so he goes on living forever. Hundreds of years pass and the man watches his friends and family grow old and die. His fortunes rise and fall, and Death visits him at his highest and lowest moments of life always asking if he is yet ready to die.
It made me think. Do people want to die? If given the opportunity, would you choose to live forever?
Of the few people I've asked, all have said no.

How interesting! I, personally, would love to live forever. I would love to be watching as each new generation entered the race; assisting them, encouraging them, and cheering them on until they finish their race and pass on a torch to the next generation. I would love to be there as each torch gets brighter and brighter! Oh, wait, this all sounds familiar! Hey, it's the "great cloud of witnesses" and you have to die to be a member! Oh well, I guess I don't want to live forever HERE - but I do want to live forever THERE!
It is inherent in the very nature
of man to live forever. You cannot
die even if you wanted to. Only
the shell you inhabit disintegrates.
LOL I knew mom and dad would bring it back to that point.... Name of the book???
